With more than a decade of experience teaching creative writing in higher ed, developing creative writing curriculum and MFA/Master’s programs (as well as years of teaching dance to kids!), I am available to book as a visiting author. Example visits include presentations on creative writing, novel writing, and/or essay writing; development of specific elements, such as character or plot; discussions of personal elements of my novels, including but not limited to the importance of mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

Joan has appeared in panels and events at venues like the Boston Book Festival, Teen Book festival, the Brookline Booksmith, Barnes & Noble (Dedham), Ripped Bodice (Los Angeles), Francie & Finch (Nebraska), the Peloton Moms Book Club, The Writer’s Loft, Emerson College, Southern New Hampshire University, WriteOnCon, Milton Public Library, as well as select public schools, private schools, and libraries.
